SEASON : JANUARY, APRIL, OCTOBER, DECEMBER.
Black Mountain range nearly divides the country in two, running from the north at the Tibetan border to the south, rich in wild life at the sanctuary of Manas. The portion near Pelela pass on highway to east is very picturesque with spacious high valleys of Rukubi, Phobjikha, Gonana and Khotakha. The big monastery of Pema Lingpa lineage at Gangte and small beautiful active gompa at Gogana are worth visiting. The route follows rich rhododendron forests and typical villages.
Itinerary
DAY 01. Arrive Paro by Druk Air Flight
During this flight, one will experience breathtaking views of Mount Everest, KanchanJunga and other Himalayan Peaks including sacred Chomolharli and Mt. Jichu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by a representative of Kinga Tours & Trek Ltd. then drive to Olathang Hotel through JParo valley is enchanting. After lunch you will be taken to Ta-Dzong (Museum). Overnight at Olathang Hotel.
DAY 02. Paro – Sightseeing
Drive winding road northwest up the Pa Chu to Drukgyel Dzong, the ruined Fort, which once defended this valley from the Tibetan invasion. This fortress, now a burned shell, was once strategic in Bhutan's defense against the Tibetan invasion. Mount Chomolhari, the sacred summit, reaches skyward beyond the Dzong. This can be viewed on a clear days. On the way back you visit a typical Bhutanese farm house. After lunch walk up the hill just above Olathang Hotel to stretch your legs for the excursion to Taktsang Monastery view point.
DAY 03. Paro – Thimphu
This morning follow the winding road beside the Pa Chu(Chu means river or water) down stream to its confluence with the Wangchu then up-valley to Thimphu, the capital. afternoon lunch at the hotel. After lunch vidit the Memorial Chorten, here the faithful circumambulate the shrine dedicated to the late king telling their prayer beads as they walk. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 04. Thimphu – Khuruthang
Drive to Khuruthang with the pack lunch provided at the Hotel. Stop at Dochula pass of the weather is clear to get the views of the Himalayan snow-capped mountains. Lunch at the camp and then drive to Punakha Dzong. Visit the Dzing when the Monks are in Thimphu.
DAY 05. Khuruthang - Limukha
Drive till Punakha Dzong. The trek begins with the gradual climb through chir – pine forest. A stop of visit the village of Dompala can be organized depending on group's choice. Distance 5/6 hrs. Overnight in tent.
DAY 06. Limukha – Chungsakha
The trail today takes you through Rhododendron and Oak forested area. Enroute pass a favor Drukpa Kunley. Overnight in the tent.Distance – 14 Kms about 5-6 hours.
DAY 07. Chungskha – Samtengang
The trial now takes you through the village of Sha Wangdi District. Camp at Samtengang at the lake side. Distance 13 Kms about 5 hrs.
DAY 08. Samtengang - Wangdi/ Thimphu
The trail now drops down till the motor road. Drive till Wangdiphodrang and lunch at Tourist lodge. Then continue to drive to Thimphu. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 10 Thimphu _ Paro Airport
Drive to the international airport at Paro for onward flight.
