Annapurna base camp is the most famous and favored trekking routes in Nepal. It is famous because this trekking route has many cool places in the way. There are many places around Annapurna Base Camp to stay and visit, which offer thrilling and adventurous experience. Yes, Annapurna sanctuary is the main attraction. It is located at an altitude of over 4000 metres. This oval shaped plateau is surrounded by a ring of mountains, called Annapurna range, most of which are over 7000 metres. This trekking route if filled with many wondrous places to visit, places to stay, hotels, accomodations, tea houses, hotels, lodges, mountains and flower fields.

Pokhara
Before talking about places around Annapurna Base Camp, let’s know about one of the beautiful city of Nepal, Pokhara. Pokhara is the biggest city of Nepal in terms of area. In terms of population it is the 2nd largest city. In this region the mountains rise quickly. Within 30 kilometres the elevation rises from 1000 to 7,5000 metres. As a result, it rains most here.
Seti Gandaki is the main river flowing through the city. Seti literally means white.
Pokhara has two of the famous lake, Phewa Tal and Begnas Lake. The Machhapuchchhre mountain with an elevation of 6,993 metres is the closest to the city. Phewa Tal clearly reflects Machhapuchchhre.
In the south of the city, a stream of the Seti flowing out of the Phewa Tal disappears at Patale Chhango (also called Davis Falls) into an underground canyon, to reappear 500 metres further south.
Pokhara has a humid subtropical climate and offers many adventours alltogether. You can observe entire city from Sarangkot hill. This hill is also famous for Paragliding and skydiving. From any angle Pokhara is one of the best places to stay during annapurna base camp trekking.
Nayapul
Nayapul means new bridge. The actual trekking starts from this point, on foot. Annapurna Base Camp trekking starts of ends in Nayapul.
Ulleri
From Nayapul, climbing the famous 3400 stone steps ‘Ulleri Steps’ one can reach the Ulleri village. It is located at an elevation of 1960 metres. From Nayapul to Ulleri, you will gain 900 metres of height by walking roughly 5-7 hours. The first close up view of Annapurnas, it would surely be the best feeling after long walk. After Ullery the next stop is the famous Ghorepani.
Ghorepani
Ghora means horse and pani means water. Ghorepani used to be a rest spot where ancient traders found water for their horses. It is located at an elevation of approximately 2874 metres. Ghorepani lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area.
Ghorepani lies on a major trail linking several other villages as well as the Annapurna Base Camp. It is one of the largest and popular village in this area. The views of the Himalayas from here are mesmerizing.
Poon Hill
If we are talking about places around Annapurna Base Camp, Poon Hill always comes in first. It is listed in top 10 tourist area of Nepal. It is the topmost point of Ghorepani. Nearly an hour of walking, on can reach Poon Hill from Ghorepani. One can view Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain range from this hill. Situated at an elevation of 3210 metres Poon hill is famous for views of sunrise.

Tadapani
After admiring the beauty of mountains, trekkers head to Tadapani. Situated at an elevation of 2650 metres Tadapani is a small village surrounded by deep forests of rhododentrons and many species of himalayas trees. Tadapani has the awesome view of Annapurna South, Fishtail, Hiuchuli and many more.
Chhomrong
Chhomrong is popular overnight stop during the trekking of Annapurna sanctuary. It can be reached only on foot.Spread over a hillside Chhomrong has stunning views of the Annapurnas and Machapuchare. From Chomrong, it takes approximately 4 hours to Ghandruk, six to eight hours to the road at Nayapul and two days to Phedi.
Doban
Descending through Chhomrong Khola we will start to climb to Khuldi Ghar via Sinuwa. Kuldi Ghar is located at elevation of 2470 metres. From there trekking downhill to Bamboo and through rhododendron forest to reach Dobhan, which is located at an altitude of 2540 metres takes approximately 6 hours walk.
Annapurna Base camp
Annapurna Sanctuary is a high glacial valley directly north of Pokhara located at an altitude of over 4000 metres. This oval-shaped plateau is surrounded by a series of mountains, the Annapurna range. Trekking to Annapurna base camp gives a first hand experience of extraordinary beauty of nature.
The breathtaking mountain scenery awes unconditionally. The trail goes towards a deep gorge between the peaks of Hiunchuli and Machapuchare. The sanctuary was believed to be the home of several Hindu and Buddhist deities.

Machapuchare base camp
Machapuchare means fishtail, is a mountain in the Annapurna Mountain Range. It is ranked 13th most beautiful mountain in the world by Telegraph. This mountain is considered to be as sacred to the god Shiva, so is off limits to climbing.
Machapuchare base camp is located at south of Annapurna range. A couple hours of trek can reach Machapuchare base camp from Annapurna base camp. From here astonishing views of Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Fang, Annapurna I, Gangapurna and Machapuchare can been seen.
Bamboo
In the way from Annapurna base camp to Chomrong, there is a place called Bamboo. Bamboo is the first village on the way out from the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Jhinu Danda
Among the places around Annapurna Base Camp, Jhinu Danda is one of the favorite places to visit during trekking. Located at a very exotic geographical place, it offers relaxing natural hot springs for your tired legs.

Landruk
Being in pokhara if one doesn’t have much time and want to explore around, a trip to Landruk is a best choice. Landruk offers the view of Annapurna range. Drive from Pokhara to Phedi, from there 2 hours trek to Dhampus, and via Potana and Deurali you can reach Landruk.
Dhampus
On reaching Dhampus the view of long range of Annapurna welcomes you. Dhampus also offers the chance to experience the beauty of Nepalese village and interaction with local farmers.
Dhampus village is situated at an elevation of 1650 metres. Begins from Phedi, trekking to Dhampus is one of the surreal experience. Dhampus has a view of Pokhara valley and is famouse spot to view the sunrise and sunset.
Phedi
Annapurna Sanctuary Trek starts or ends in either Nayapul or Phedi. One can take bus to either Nayapul or Phedi. Actual trekking starts from Phedi which is located at an altitude of 1130 meters.
