Syabrubesi to Lama hotel (2480m)
Let’s start to trek! Ascending slowly at our own pace we walk along the stream and get opportunities to observe local wildlife such as the beautiful birds around the bushes. The bee hives hanging on the cliffs is also something you don’t see every day. Later, we will reach Lama Hotel where we stay overnight.
Walking time: 5-6 hours
Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3541m)
After a strengthening breakfast at the lodge we start our walk through lush Rhododendron forests. When we leave the tree line behind, we enter Langtang Valley, from which the mighty Langtang Lirung peak becomes visible. We eventually reach Langtang village where we stay overnight.
Walking time: 5-6 hours
Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3900m)
Today’s walk leads us along lush pasture lands, small wooden bridges and a large Mani wall, inscribed with prayers. We are gradually coming closer to Kyanjin Village. Full of traditional houses made with stone roofs, the village has its own unique charm and gives you a good impression of Nepali mountain life.
Walking time: 3-4 hours
Explore the glacial system around Kyanjin Gompa
Take your time and explore the glaciers around Kyanjin Village. Walk up to the moraines at Langshisha Kharka, which is marked by a number of poles with prayer flags and a few semi-permanent stone structures. The trail leads you along the Langtang river and many Yaks and stunning views on Dorje Lakpa, and eventually Shisha Pangma.
Kyanjin Gompa rest or Tsergo Ri peak
Tsergo Ri is a nice peak just below 5000m that is ideal for a day trip. You will be rewarded with an amazing 360 degree view of the mountains surrounding Langtang Valley and all the way down to Kyanjin Gompa. You get a perfect view of Langtang to the west, Yala peak to the north and Dorje Lakpa and Shishapangma to the east. You can see very clearly the Ganja La pass through the southern mountains and already catch a glimpse of what awaits you in a few days.
Kyanjin Gompa to Ngegang (4000m)
Leaving Kyanjin today we slowly make our way towards the Ganja La Pass. Not much vegetation awaits us today as we ascend. Since there are no lodges in this area, we will camp tonight. But don’t be worried, it’ll be a lot of fun and will make you feel like a real mountaineer!
Ngegang over Ganja La Pass (5200m) to Keldang (5106m)
Let’s do it! Today is the day we are going to cross the Ganja La Pass! It’s gonna be a tough day, especially if we get unlucky with the weather, but it will be awesome anyway. The pass is covered in snow most of the year, but you’ll experience great views and the special feeling that comes with the accomplishment of crossing the pass. Tonight we camp again.
