This short trek provides a good introduction into trekking whilst also providing some wonderful close up views of both the sacred mountain Macchapuchre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South. Our destination is the beautiful and ornate village of Ghandruk, home to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project. Here you have a chance to visit the project to discover at first hand the conservation work being carried out. A refreshing three days allowing an insight into mountain life. Maximum altitude 2600 metrs.

Ghandrung (Ghandruk) Trekking Itinerary

Early morning, after breakfast, board a bus and drive to Pokhara. It’s a drive of about 6 hours through lush green forest, meandering road through the hills and gracefully flowing riverside’s. You will also come across lively markets and clusters of villages on the way. Lunch will be taken in one of the road side restaurants. Upon reaching in Pokhara, you will be received and driven to the hotel. Check into hotel.

Leave Pokhara early in the morning and drive to Nayapul for about an hour. From Nayapul we start walking uphill and having fantastic views of Annapurnas, Manaslu. From Birethanti, we turn right after crossing the Modi river and aim to reach Ghandruk about 4-5 hours steep hill trial. Where there are good views of Machhapuchre and Annapurna South for our rights stop in this pretty village.

We have a number of ascents and descents today. We descend down to ModiKhola and the trail again climbs to Landruk village. We walk through paddy fields followed by an uphill climb to Pothana via Deuralli Village.

Most part of the trail to Pokhara from Pothana is one the ridge of hill and we walk into the forest from where the shining views of Himalayas can be observed. We decent down to Phedi through the village of Dhaupus and Drive to Pokhara for about 30 min. Overnight stay at hotel.

It takes about 4 – 5 hours to drive back to Kathmandu crossing over some mountain passes and rivers along the way. In the evening we enjoy a farewell dinner and reflect on a great adventure.
