The Kashmir Great Lakes & Gangabal Trek is a spectacular journey through some of Kashmir’s most breathtaking alpine landscapes — offering a blend of lush meadows, serene high altitude lakes, and challenging pass crossings. Over 8 days, you’ll travel from the valley city of Srinagar into Sonamarg (2730m), then begin your ascent through forests and rivers toward Nichnai (~3658m). You’ll traverse the Nichnai Pass (~4116m) to reach Vishansar Lake, and from there cross Gadsar Pass, encountering shimmering alpine lakes and wildflower meadows en route.
Next you’ll venture through the Satsar lake basin, and further to the twin glacial lakes of Gangabal/Nandkol (~3587m) beneath Harmukh peak. The final day brings a demanding descent to Naranag, and a scenic drive back to Srinagar. Throughout the trek, you will enjoy reflections on crystal lakes, pass ridges with sweeping views of the Kashmir Himalaya, and immersion in quiet high mountain solitude. Altitudes range from ~2730m in the base valley to ~4116m at the pass — making this trek accessible to fit and acclimatized trekkers who want high Himalayan scenery without extreme mountaineering challenges.
