Highlights & Overview

This 11-day “Tibet Overland to Everest Base Camp” expedition offers a stirring blend of culture, landscape and high-altitude adventure. Starting from the sacred city of Lhasa at 3 650 m, you’ll acclimatize amid ancient palaces and monasteries before heading outward across the Tibetan Plateau toward the north face of Mount Everest. The route takes you from Lhasa to Tsedang and Gyantse, where historic monasteries and borderland towns set the scene. In Shigatse you’ll experience one of Tibet’s major spiritual centres. From there the terrain opens out, altitude rises, and on Day 8 you reach Rongbuk — the world’s highest monastery at over 5 100 m — where the summit view of Everest dominates the horizon.
On Day 9 you head to Everest Base Camp itself (~5 200 m), facing massive glacier walls, prayer-flag flaps in the high wind and a trekkers’ paradise above the clouds. The return journey crosses into Nepal via Nyalam and Zhangmu, culminating in a final night in Kathmandu. Throughout the trip you’ll traverse a wide variety of landscapes: from Lhasa’s valley floor to remote high passes, from ancient monasteries to wide desert-like high plains, and finally into Nepal’s foothills once again.
This expedition is ideal for travellers seeking the extraordinary: secure high-altitude access, cultural depth, and the thrill of standing on the edge of the world’s greatest peak. You’ll benefit from gradual altitude gain, time to acclimatize, and the comfort of overland travel rather than rushed flights. Every day brings new vistas, historic sites and deeper insight into Tibetan and Himalayan life. By the end, you’ll not just have ticked off Everest — you’ll have connected with the land, its people and the pristine heights above.
