The High in Dhaulagiri Camping Trek is a true expedition-style Himalayan adventure designed for experienced trekkers seeking raw wilderness, technical glacier travel, and remote high-altitude camping. Unlike lodge-based treks, this route is fully supported camping from the mid-hills all the way into extreme alpine environments. The journey begins with a drive from Kathmandu to western Nepal, passing through Pokhara and Baglung before entering quiet Magar villages and deep river valleys. As the trail progresses, it becomes increasingly remote, transitioning from terraced farmland and forests into alpine terrain and glacial landscapes. The highlight of the trek is reaching Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4750m/15584ft), surrounded by towering ice walls and massive glaciers. From here, the route becomes more technical, requiring rope-assisted glacier crossings and careful navigation across moraine fields.
The most challenging and rewarding section is the ascent to French Col (5360m/17585ft), one of Nepal’s highest trekking passes. Beyond it lies Hidden Valley, a vast high-altitude basin with extreme temperatures and surreal Himalayan scenery resembling the Tibetan plateau. After acclimatizing in Hidden Valley, the route crosses Dhampus Pass and descends into the Mustang region, passing through Yak Kharka, Marpha, and Ghasa before reconnecting with the Annapurna circuit trail. The trek concludes with lush forests, waterfalls, and cultural villages before reaching Pokhara and returning to Kathmandu. This trek is ideal for mountaineering-style trekkers looking for isolation, technical terrain, glacier navigation, and a full camping expedition experience in Nepal.

Note: The trek can be operated in both teahouses and under the canvas on request, as well as possible to combine with some other activities such as white water rafting & wildlife safari. The itinerary can be customized according to your duration of holiday.
