The Wilds of Rara Lake Trek is a peaceful and remote journey into the far-western Himalayan region of Nepal, offering one of the most beautiful yet least crowded trekking experiences in the country. Centered around the stunning Rara Lake, Nepal’s largest freshwater lake, this trek is a blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and raw wilderness. The adventure begins with flights from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Jumla, a remote mountain district that serves as the gateway to western Nepal’s hidden trails. From here, the route climbs through traditional villages, alpine forests, and high ridges such as Danphe Lagna and Chautha.
As the trek progresses, landscapes change dramatically—from pine and rhododendron forests to open meadows and high ridgelines—offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and remote valleys. The highlight of the journey is Rara Lake (3040m/9974ft), a turquoise alpine lake surrounded by dense pine forests and Rara National Park. A full rest day allows trekkers to explore the lake, observe wildlife such as musk deer and Himalayan birds, and enjoy the peaceful environment. The return journey follows a different route through Sinja Valley, an important historical site believed to be the origin of the Nepali language, before descending back to Jumla for the return flight. This trek is ideal for travelers seeking solitude, natural beauty, and a less commercialized Himalayan experience.

Note: The trek can be operated in both teahouses and under the canvas on request, as well as possible to combine with some other activities such as white water rafting & wildlife safari. The itinerary can be customized according to your duration of holiday.
